Each release version of Healpin has the form MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH. For example, Healpin version 1.2.3 has MAJOR version 1, MINOR version 2, and PATCH version 3. Changes to each number have the following meaning:

MAJOR Version

  • When to Increment?: The MAJOR version is incremented when significant changes that break backward compatibility are made in the application.
  • What It Includes:
    • Changes in the core architecture
    • Major changes in the user interface or user experience
    • Updates that alter the way primary functions of the application work
    • Addition of new major features or modules

MINOR Version

PATCH Version

  • When to Increment?: The PATCH version is incremented for small fixes and security patches in the application. These changes do not affect backward compatibility.
  • What It Includes:
    • Bug fixes
    • Security patches
    • Minor performance improvements
    • Small corrections in the user interface

In summary, the MAJOR version covers significant and large changes, the MINOR version includes new features and improvements, and the PATCH version addresses small bug fixes and security patches.
